About Guiris de Mierda (GDM)

Guiris de Mierda is the go-to community for internationals in Spain, creating unforgettable experiences through unique events that foster real connections, fun, and a true sense of belonging. We are now looking for a proactive and hyper-organized Event Planner for GdM. The focus will be on Madrid, but all cities will be covered, ensuring every event is smoothly executed and leaves guests feeling part of something special.

Role Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Event Planner to join our team. This part-time role is based in Madrid and is largely remote, with some in-person attendance required for events. The ideal candidate will be a master of organization, a skilled negotiator, and a creative thinker who can manage our calendar of events, with a special focus on our large monthly gatherings. This is not an event host role; you will be the mastermind behind the scenes, making sure everything runs like clockwork.

Key Responsibilities

• Venue Partnerships: Initiate conversations with new venues, explaining our concept and operational model.

• Negotiation: Secure favorable event conditions and agreements with venue partners.

• Luma Management: Handle all administrative tasks on Luma, including creating discount codes, managing event listings, and adding new events to the calendar.

• Calendar Management: Curate a well-spaced and varied calendar of events, with a primary focus on our signature monthly BIG event.

• Event Ideation: Brainstorm and develop new and exciting event concepts.

• Financial Administration: Chase and manage invoices from our partners.

Resource Allocation: Ensure all events are staffed with a host and, where necessary, a photographer.

Profile & Experience

• Ideally experience in events, hospitality, or public relations.

• A problem-solver who can think on their feet and adapt to the energy of a room.

Key Skills

• Languages: Fluent English is a must. Strong Spanish is also required.

• Organisational Skills: Exceptional organisational and time-management abilities.

• Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Work Conditions

• Contract: Freelance (must be registered as autónomo).

• Location: Based in Madrid.

• Schedule: 15-20 hours per week (some weeks a little more and some less, depending on the events we have coming up)

• Availability: Evening availability is essential. While this is not a hosting role, you will be required to attend events for the first hour to ensure smooth operations in new venues and to perform quality checks on our current events and venues.

Company Culture & Fit

At GDM, we’re all about community, fun, and authenticity. However, this role requires a straight shooter—someone who can work under pressure, doesn’t take things personally, and is not easily offended.

How to apply

  1. Email: Send your application to hello@guirisdemierda.com with the subject line “Job position: Event Planner”.

  2. Include: Your CV; A 30-second video intro (keep it simple—just introduce yourself and tell us why you’re good for the role).
